Spring Update
We're in that awkward mud season but I promise it'll be over soon.
Carrabassett Valley single-track mountain bike trails are currently closed - CRNEMBA will provide an update when conditions allow. If you're still looking to ride, The Narrow Gauge Pathway (no single track) proper is open (upstream of the s-turns due to flood damage). Both pump tracks (Outdoor Center and BeerShed) are also rideable. Additionally, Caribou Valley Road and Middle Road in Kingfield are local favorites this time of year.
There are a lot of exciting activities and events in store for the spring and summer so stay tuned for more info and check out the events calendar in the meantime.
Chat soon,
Erica J.

Reminiscing on the 2023/24 Winter Season
I met a ten year old Sugarloafer named Dayna on the chairlift during on the day of the eclipse. It was clear to me that she was wise beyond her years. Whether she becomes an astrophysisist, a book reviewer, or anything in between, a very successful and dynamic life is ahead for her.
I was particularly impressed to hear that she read the Sugarloaf mountain reports every day this season in search of insights... and grammatical errors. Luckily for me, I passed her test. Recently, her mother sent me Dayna's own summary about the season and I wanted to share it here on the Mountain Report. Safe to say, she passed my test too.
"The 2023-2024 ski season was definitely a great one. With the addition of Bucksaw Express and the total solar eclipse, folks will no doubt walk away with great memories from this winter.
With the opening of Bucksaw Express, a new high speed detachable chairlift, in early February, young and old Sugarloafers alike got to enjoy easy, fun cruisers. With 138 chairs, Bucksaw Express never fails to impress novice to expert skiers with its irresistible charm.
Adding to the joy of the season was the total solar eclipse on April 8th. A phenomenon of nature, the eclipse wowed everyone in its path. The Beach and Bullwinkles were one big party on that day, and no matter where you were on the mountain, you were sure to have a great experience. Many folks viewed the eclipse from the top of the mountain. Sugarloafers will always have joyous memories of that day, I guarantee.
Above all, the skiing was the most important part of the season. With powder days, groomer days, slush days, and everything in between days, we really had a great winter. From moguls and steeps to glades and groomers, Sugarloaf truly has variety that no other mountain can compare to.
Overall, I would say Sugarloaf had a wonderful winter, wouldn't you? The ski slopes truly are a place where life long memories happen, and I know this season will be one I will never forget.
