Sugarloaf may be best known as an alpine skiing resort, but tucked away in the woods just minutes from the base area is Maine's largest Nordic center; the lodge is home to a full Nordic retail shop, rental center, and cafe, all surrounded by some of the most picturesque trails in New England.

Alpine Exchange Program
The Alpine Exchange Program lets you access more winter sports than ever: when you purchase a Sugarloaf lift ticket, you also get full access to the Outdoor Center trails and skating rink for the day–it even includes equipment rentals, so there's no need for extra packing.

Outdoor Center Activities
Cross-country skiing
With more than 50K of groomed trails to explore, the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center is the largest Nordic Center in Maine.
Ice Skating
Open from mid-December to mid-March, the Outdoor Center offers an NHL sized rink and a full line of ice skate rentals for children and adults.
Snowshoeing
Slow down and smell the fir trees on one of many well-marked snowshoe trails at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center.

Feb 19
Women's Classic Nordic Ski Day
Come Classic ski with our energetic coaches for an afternoon of fun! Meet other women skiers who have a love of Nordic Skiing! This will be an intermediate skier tour of the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center Trail System with hills, roughly 7-12 km in distance. Register online soon. -
Feb 22
Intro to Performance Nordic Skiing
This Nordic ski clinic is for all skills and ages up to 19 years old and will be held 1-3pm. We aim to encourage the love of Nordic skiing, love of winter, and love of outdoor sports. -

Classic Nordic Ski Tour
Classic Ski with one of our professional coaches up the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center's Ski Trail: 50. 50 is a black diamond, the most difficult level in trail designation. This event is for experts only. -
Mar 12
Inferno
The Inferno is set to return this coming Spring. This downhill nordic race starts on Whiffle Tree and follows a ski cross course with berms, and rollers down to the Outdoor Center. Experts only. More details coming soon.
