Sugarloaf offers scenic chairlift rides throughout the summer season. Take in the spectacular scenery from the comfort of the Whiffletree Quad, and explore the mountain before enjoying a scenic ride back down.

Scenic Lift Ride Hours
Scenic lift rides are offered Thursday through Sunday, during bike park operations. Check the Mountain Report for the most up-to-date information.

Know Before You Go
- Scenic Lift Rides on the Whiffletree Quad last approximately 15 minutes in each direction.
- The downhill hike along the service road takes approximately 25-40 minutes based on ability.
- Scenic Lift Tickets are available to purchase in person at Downhill Supply Co. and the Sugarloaf Bike Shop.
- Save on lift ticket pricing when you purchase online in advance.
- 2025/26 New England Pass holders ride for FREE, with lift access preloaded on every GoCard, meaning you can head straight to the lift.
- If you don't have your Go Card, you can print a new card for $5 at the Go Card PUB (Pick Up Box) in the Base Area.
Important: Either your Go Card or your email confirmation with QR code must be present to access the lift.
FAQs
No. Hiking on the mountain is at your own risk, and there is no patrol dedicated to hikers. Patrol staff are present for the Bike Park only.
If you need assistance, call Sugarloaf Security at 207-237-6961, and in case of emergency, call 911.
Please be alert and yield to bikers on trails.
The choice is yours. Either hike back down along the service road, a roughly 20-40 minute hike based on ability, or hop back on the lift to enjoy a smooth descent.
The chairlift will run rain or shine, but may be closed during periods of severe weather, including but not limited to heavy wind or lightning.
If you have an ADA service animal, please let us know in advance of your arrival so that we can arrange transport up to the top of the lift by other means.
Summer temperatures at Sugarloaf range between 60-90 degrees. The top of the mountain is typically 15 degrees colder than the base, so be sure to bring a warm layer.
Weather can change quickly and without warning.
New England's newest downhill, gravity-fed mountain bike park is also serviced by the Whiffletree Quad.
