The Sugarloaf Inferno returns Sunday, March 12th. This XC ski cross event will start at the top of the Whiffletree Chair Lift and end down at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. The course will take you downhill to the Condo X-Cut that connects with the traditional Inferno race trail leading to the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. You will feel the burn on this approximate 7K course that is mostly downhill and suitable for advanced skiers on cross-country skis.
The registration fee is $35 per person. This includes the lift access needed for the start of the race, and a registration gift.
Please note there will be no day of registration for this year's race. Online Registration ends March 10 at 11: 59pm, unless the race fills up sooner.
This will be an XC ski cross course with berms, rollers, and a small drop, so the terrain is for intermediate and advanced skiers only. We are only allowing racers on cross-country ski equipment, and helmets are required.
The race will begin at 1pm with 5 person waves every 15 seconds. This is subject to change, so we will provide specific information regarding your start time as we get closer to race day.
Since the start and finish are separate locations, skiers should plan accordingly. When arriving at the start, only bring what you plan to race with as there will be no returning to the exact start location after the race. You will have to either get dropped off at the Sugarloaf Mountain base area, or take the regularly scheduled shuttle back to the mountain if you park up at the mountain instead of the outdoor center, or you could ski back up to your vehicle. There is no bus/shuttle specific for the race, but there are still the normal shuttles you may ride. Check out more shuttle information here.
Bib Pick Up
Bib pick-up will be Sunday morning 9am to noon in the Maple Room of the base lodge. A pre-race email with updated information will be sent.
A lift ticket will be provided with your bib so you can access the lift. Please note this lift ticket is only good for accessing the start of the race and will not provide access for downhill skiing the rest of the day.
An awards ceremony will be held at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center following the race.
