A Fourth of July Weekend at Sugarloaf
Before Summer Hits Full Speed
By the time the Fourth of July arrives, it feels like summer is officially here.
The calendar starts filling up. Every weekend has somewhere to be. Before you know it, school supplies replace beach towels and the season has flown by.
This weekend is a good reminder to slow down.
At Sugarloaf, that doesn't have to mean doing nothing. It simply means trading schedules for fresh air, screens for mountain views, and making space for the people you're with.
Maybe that's an early morning tee time while the mountains are still quiet. Maybe it's a scenic lift ride with the kids, pointing out places you've skied all winter. Maybe it's watching them build confidence lap after lap in the Bike Park, or simply sitting together over dinner after a day spent outside.
There isn't a wrong way to spend a summer day here.
Take a walk through the village. Ride the Whiffletree Quad just because the view never gets old. Sneak away for nine holes—or eighteen if everyone agrees. Share Lobster Roll Flights at 45 North on Friday, grab a burger at The Bag, or a refreshing Mountain Mama at the Widowmaker, catch up with friends you haven't seen since ski season, and linger a little longer than you planned.
And when the sun begins to set, head over to the Carrabassett Valley Airport for the community fireworks display. It's one of those traditions that reminds you what summer in the mountains is all about: neighbors, families, friends, and a sky full of color.
The truth is, the weeks ahead are going to be full.
There will be summer camp, bike races, live music, golf tournaments, hiking adventures, long weekends, and all the reasons we wait through a Maine winter for summer to arrive.
But before the season settles into full stride, give yourself permission to enjoy this one—one conversation, one chairlift ride, one sunset, one memory at a time.
We'll see you on the mountain.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Sugarloaf.
