Maine's Largest Nordic Center
Sugarloaf may be best known for its downhill skiing and riding, but tucked away in the woods just minutes from the base area is Maine’s largest Nordic center. The Outdoor Center is home to a full Nordic retail shop, rental center, and the Bull Moose Café—all surrounded by the most picturesque trails in New England.
Trails are open 9:00 AM-4:00 PM; after-hours skiing or snowshoeing is prohibited for your safety to allow for overnight grooming.

New This Season: Enclosed Sled (Pulk) Rental available, suitable for children 5 & under, and attaches to the skier with straps, making it easy to tow behind. $11 rental for the full day.

Enjoy full-season access to Maine's largest Nordic center with a 2025/26 Nordic Season Pass. New England Pass holders have the opportunity to add on a Nordic Season Pass during checkout.
Please note rentals are not included.
Plus, Carrabassett Valley taxpayers get a 15% discount on all Nordic season passes (excludes Alpine add-ons).

Nordic Ski Lessons
Whether you're new to Nordic skiing or a seasoned pro looking to fine-tune your skills, a lesson with one of Sugarloaf's trained instructors will give you both the skills and confidence you need before heading out onto the trails this season.
If you have not previously Nordic skied and are interested in learning how to skate ski, our instructors recommend taking a classic ski lesson before progressing out to skate skiing.

Free Nordic Access
exchange ticketsWith our Alpine Exchange Program, you can exchange your 1-day winter lift ticket for access to the Outdoor Center's Nordic trails, skating rink, or snowshoe trails with rental equipment included in the exchange.
How it works: Show proof of purchase of your same-day lift ticket before it is scanned at the gate. This offer is intended for situations such as wind holds or when conditions are not ideal for alpine skiing.
Valid for activities from 9 AM–5 pm.
