The Mallett Brothers

“New England's wildly eclectic crew of genre rebels” (Texas Hill Country Explore Magazine) return with their most confident and cohesive album to date, Higher Up in the Hills.

Founded in 2009 in Portland, Maine, by brothers Luke and Will Mallett, the band carries forward the songwriting tradition of their father, folk artist David Mallett. Over the past 15 years, their working-band ethos and a dedicated fan base have carried them across countless tours, shows, and festivals. They’ve shared the stage with The Turnpike Troubadours, Blackberry Smoke, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and earned accolades including New England Music Awards’ “Band of the Year” and “Album of the Year.

”The Malletts’ music resists genre boxes: “We have never been just an altcountry band, a rock band, a jam band, or anything else… we let the song dictate the style.” Their latest album reflects this philosophy, blending rock, roots, and country into a sound that feels both timeless and fresh.

In 2025, following Higher Up in the Hills, the band continues extensive touring, proving that you don’t need Nashville or Austin to create authentic American music that resonates far and wide.
