The Sugarloaf Golf School helps players lower their scores and get more enjoyment out of their time on the course every summer. Whether it's a quick tune-up with one of our hourly clinics or an intensive week-long camp, Sugarloaf's staff of PGA Professionals will help you take your game to the next level.

Private Lessons

Get customized instruction from one of our Golf Pros. Whether you have a specific problem you'd like to solve, want to lower your score, or are just getting started, we'll help you take your game to the next level. Choose a half-hour or hour session for a quick tune-up or a series of 5 or 10 lessons for more in-depth instruction. To focus on lowering your score, try 9-hole playing Golf lessons and receive instruction on course management and strategy in a private 9-hole round with a PGA professional.

Alden McDonald

Junior Sports Academy

In memory of the late Alden McDonald, the Sugarloaf Golf Club and Town of Carrabassett Valley proudly offer local children, ages 5-17, the opportunity to learn the game of golf on Maine's premier course.

Led by Sugarloaf's PGA Golf Professionals, the academy consists of three instructional levels. Each program includes free club rentals, on-course instruction, and access to an end-of-the-season awards ceremony and pizza party.

Golf Cubs

For our youngest players, ages 5-7, this 10-week program will meet on Sunday afternoons from 2-2:45 PM. The goal of this program is to instill in the student the fundamentals of golf and the etiquette expected while learning and playing the game. Instruction and competition will serve as a fun and rewarding introduction to the sport.

Youth Ages 8-11

Alden's Linksters

Alden's Linksters is a 10-week session for those ages 8-11, meeting at the golf club on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 PM - 4:25 PM. Instruction will be fun and engaging, focusing on mastering the fundamentals, rules, and etiquette, with about 40% of the time spent playing on the course.

Youth Ages 12-17

Tiger's Tees

Geared toward furthering the junior’s knowledge of golf, Tiger's Tees offers participants ages 12-18 a 10-session program that meets on Sundays from 4:30-6 PM. Instruction will be fun and engaging, focusing on learning the game of golf, its rules, and etiquette, with about 60% of the time spent playing on the course.

Full & Half Day

Group Lessons

Sugarloaf's half-day golf school is exactly what your game needs to prepare for your next round. The school's focus is on polishing your existing skills, which will lead to immediate results on the course and improve your golf experience. Each of the game's fundamentals will be covered: full-swing analysis, short game (bunker, pitching, and chipping), putting, and golf-course strategy.

AM ½ Day Golf School (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)*

$195 per person (4-person max)

PM ½ Day Golf School & playing lesson (2 PM – 6 PM)*

$250 per person (4-person max)

Weekly Program

Group Clinic

The group golf clinic is the perfect place for any golfer learning the game or reviewing golf's fundamentals. The program is designed to cover a different aspect of the game throughout the summer season, June 2 through September 1: putting, chipping & pitching, bunker play, and full swing, conducted by the club's PGA Professionals.
