Route 27 from Eustis to KingfieldThe Course

Located in the mountains of western Maine, the Sugarloaf Marathon follows scenic Route 27 as it winds through the Bigelow Mountains and follows the Carrabassett River. The first 5 miles out of Eustis are relatively flat before rolling hills peak to a steady climb miles 8-10. The last 16 miles along the river are a gradual, steady descent- dropping 980 feet for some seriously fast finishes and plenty of PRs.

Marathon Start

The Marathon start line is located at Cathedral Pines Campground: 945 Arnold Trail, Eustis ME 04936.

Start Time
Runners 7:00AM
Walkers 6:00AM

15K Start

The Sugarloaf 15K starts in Carrabassett Valley and follows the Carrabassett River to the finish in Kingfield. The course loses 300 feet of elevation from start to finish, and stays directly on Route 27.

GU packets are available at mile 8.7 and mile 16.8.

Facilities

Portable toilets are located at the starting line for both the marathon and 15K, multiple locations throughout the course, and at the finish line.

Spectators

The Sugarloaf Marathon & 15K is an open road race, so the course is not closed to vehicles. Local traffic is encouraged to avoid the course as much as possible during the race, and in an effort to keep all runners safe, on course support by friends and family is not permitted. There will be designated viewing areas with limited parking along the course.

Bicycles, strollers, and pets are strictly prohibited from the course for everyone's safety.

Athletes using adaptive equipment can email the race director for special permission at marathon@sugarloaf.com.

Transportation

Transportation to both the 15K and Marathon start lines is provided at no charge to registered participants. There is no parking at the Marathon start line, so we encourage all racers to take the provided shuttles.
