We'll be celebrating all things Grateful Dead February 8-10 at the first ever Fire on the Mountain Festival! This new event will celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead as performed by some of New England's most talented bands; each with their own take on arguably the most enduring catalog of American rock and roll music. 

Lodging Packages

Upgrade your weekend with on-mountain lodging in a condo or at the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel. Packages prices include one night of on-mountain lodging, access to the Sugarloaf Sports & Fitness Center or Hotel Spa, and the option to add discounted lift tickets*.

Pricing is per unit per night with a 2-night minimum; some restrictions apply.

Event registration is $25, which gives you access to both the Friday night and the Saturday night shows. Your registration does not guarantee access to the free daytime shows in the Widowmaker. The daytime shows are first come first served.

    • The Workin' Dead
      3pm-7pm in the Widowmaker
    • The Workin’ Dead is an acoustic trio, focusing on the music from the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band. Formed in 2015, The Workin’ Dead is comprised of members Mark McKelvey, Tom Faunce, and Aaron Nadeau and often incorporates numerous special guests into shows. Since the inception of the group, The Workin’ Dead has played a weekly residency at the Portland House of Music in Portland, Maine. The mission of The Workin’ Dead, is to provide audiences with a unique Grateful Dead experience with an intimate, acoustic approach to covering selections from the Dead's entire catalogue.
    • The Maine Dead Project
      Friday Night in the King Pine Room
    • The Maine Dead Project features a wide ranging repertoire of Grateful Dead Classics through strong, high energy musical performance. Members of the MDP have shared stages with John Popper (Blues Traveler), Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead), Mean Willie Green (Neville Brothers), Jeff Watkins (James Brown Band), The New Orleans Suspects, members of Strangefok, members of the Trey Anastasio Band, Cyril Neville, Warren Haynes and more.
    • Oak and Elm
      9pm-12:30am in the Widowmaker
    • Oak and Elm is a rare and delicate pairing created by multi-instrumentalist husband and wife duo from New England exploring music spanning from Bluegrass, Country, Old Timey, and Americana to Gospel, Blues and even some psychedelia. The duo features the powerful yet thoughtfully delivered vocal performances from "August First's" Nicole D'Amico and "Hamburger Midnight's" frontman/multi-instrumentalist and Vocalist, Jay Kelley.

Saturday

    • Local 28
      8pm-10:00pm in the King Pine Room
    • For over a decade, Local 28 has been winning over Deadheads and music lovers alike with their high-energy and dynamic performances celebrating the music and improvisatory spirit of the Grateful Dead. Following in the footsteps of the Dead themselves, and joining the new wave of bands and musicians who are bringing their own energy to the greatest American songbook, Local 28 weave nimbly through styles, genres, and covers that deftly bridge traditional songcraft with gravity-defying jams. Formed in 2006 and based in Gloucester, MA, Local 28 keeps audiences dancing and smiling as they travel together down the many roads of the good ol' Grateful Dead.
    • A Band Beyond Description
      9pm-12:30am in the Widowmaker
    • “A Band Beyond Description” from Portland, ME has been celebrating the Grateful Dead’s music for 18 years now. The band has had the fortune of enjoying many talented players and guests, travels and residencies along the way, and loves to bring the vibe of the Grateful Dead everywhere they plug in. The current lineup features a who’s who of the Portland music scene who all share a mutual respect for the music but at the same time aren’t afraid to explore their own unique ways of interpreting the vast Dead catalog, to the delight of Dead fans old & new.
    • Dead Sessions
      Saturday Night in the King Pine Room
    • Over the past 19 years, Dead Sessions have grown and merged to become one of the favorite Grateful Dead experiences in the Northeast. Playing since 1998, the collective is known for their authentic but unique renditions of Grateful Dead classics thick with heartfelt jams that make the most jaded DeadHead rejoice. With an unmasked joy that pours off the stage and blurs any boundaries with their audience, the Sessions are beloved from both the casual fan to the dedicated Terrapin warrior.

Sunday

    • Deadgrass
      1pm-4pm in the Widowmaker
    • Multi-instrumentalist Matt Turk and Grammy award winner C Lanzbom joined forces to form Deadgrass, a string band adventure through jerry Garcia’s musical world. Bassist Dave Richards, banjo player Russell Gottlieb and fiddler Michael Barrett Donovan complete this fine group of seasoned pros exploring the life works of Jerry Garcia on the instruments that first inspired him. Deadgrass celebrates and interprets the music of Jerry Garcia, drawing from Old & In The Way, JGB, Grisman/Garcia, Jerry’s Jug Band days and the Grateful Dead.
