Bucksaw Chair Removal
Our team began removing chairs from the Bucksaw Lift this week. They we able to take more than half off of the line by the end of the day on Tuesday, and plan to remove the remaining chairs on Wednesday.
The seemingly simple task of unclamping fixed-grip chairs from the haul rope proved to be far more laborious that one might think. The Bucksaw lift utilized a Riblet-style insert clip that wove the chair grip into the haul rope. So, to remove the chairs, the crew used a haul-rope detensioning machine that loosened the weave of the haul rope, allowing them to extract the insert clip.
The seven-ton haul rope will likely be removed in the coming days, followed by tower removal later this fall.
Stay tuned for more updates.
