Time to fire up the snow guns
The good news and the bad news are kind of the same thing this weekend: Good news- It's gonna be really cold...perfect for snowmaking. Bad news- It's gonna be really cold.
How cold? Below zero to start on Saturday for sure.
In any other pattern I might skip skiing in these kind of temperatures, but I actually think it's going to quickly improve conditions by allowing the first 72 hour snow blowing window in a while.
For now the atmospheric blowtorch is on time out in the corner.
Another positive is that with high pressure building in from the west, I expect a good amount of sunshine over the weekend, particularly on Sunday.
All else being equal, I'd recommend Sunday over Saturday. A bit warmer and less windy.
Things are quiet after that until mid next week when our next storm approaches. Like old George Washington, I cannot tell a lie (on purpose): It probably starts as rain with some back end accumulating snow.
Beyond that I see some encouraging signs for spring skiing: things trough out, lows start developing and the blowtorch isn't around. Too early to make any promises but March 10th-14th could be beneficial to our Loaf cause.
Until then, rock on.
