Every winter the Bud Light Concert Series brings some of the nation's hottest touring acts to the mountains of Maine. This year the series moves to the Widowmaker Lounge, with more dates and more variety than ever before.

TUSK covers all the great hits of Fleetwood Mac, which has featured the talents of Mick Fleetwood, Christine and John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and others over the years. The five seasoned, well-respected musicians comprising TUSK have been making music together in various combinations and styles, in original outfits and in cover bands, for over twenty-five years. It seemed only fitting that they should come together to form the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, and pay homage to a group that dominated the charts during the band members’ formative years. Authentic-sounding and always respectful, TUSK leaves no stone unturned in replicating the sounds of one of the world’s best-loved, top-selling bands.

Hot Day at the Zoo’s powerful acoustic music truly resonates in their energizing live show. HDATZ mix folk, blues, ragtime and jazz with progressive bluegrass and Americana-infused rock and roll what Vintage Guitar Magazine calls “rhythm-heavy bluegrass-y music.” The New England grown 5-piece band now includes multi-instrumentalist Nick Heys on piano and accordion contributing to a more full-bodied sound experience. HDATZ’s powerful acoustic music truly displays their youthful energy, stellar musicianship and signature songwriting. Marked by a growing list of festival and direct performances alongside artists including Levon Helm, David Grisman, moe., Railroad Earth, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Cowboy Junkies, Trampled By Turtles and the Ryan Montbleau Band, HDATZ proves that their grassroots approach has built a dedicated fan base. In the great Northwest, The Maldives are more than a band, they are an institution. With a history that goes back more than half a decade (their friendships considerably longer), they’ve played every kind of gig imaginable- from backwoods festivals on the back of a flatbed truck to the inauguration of Seattle’s musically minded mayor. They have overflowed the stages at SXSW,
CMJ, Capitol Hill Block Party, Sasquatch, and Bumbershoot. In 2010, they were featured on MTV’s $5 Cover series which spotlighted the best of Seattle’s music scene. What started as the personal project for lead singer and songwriter Jason Dodson has at times swollen to a small army of twelve before settling on six full-time members. At some point, The Maldives became bigger than any one man.
Their debut full-length, 2009’s Listen to the Thunder (Mt. Fuji, produced by Grammy Award-winner Kory Kruckenberg), was the culmination of years of live playing, not a studio piece, but a faithful document of who the Maldives had become as a live band. Their forthcoming release Muscle for the Wing (October 2012) is the opportunity to bring the band’s assembled creativity together in a different way and explore their combined vision. And this time they brought in producer Shawn Simmons (The Head and the Heart, Grand Hallway) to capture it all. It builds on a heritage of cinematic American rock & roll that’s at turns chivalrous and fist-pumping, steeped in tradition but unbound by expectations. Dodson’s words reveal characters set in a widescreen frame, scenes from real life that often portray victims of the heart and casualties to the beast that is circumstance.

Jacob Augustine

Jacob Augustine is an experimental folk musician from the Northern woods of Maine. He has lived all over the country, crisscrossing the United States performing for over a decade in various projects. While living in California in 2008 he recorded his first full-length album entitled Harmonia, which was then released in early 2009, just months after moving back to Maine to live in the Portland area. Harmonia was named a Top Ten Album of the Year by The Portland Phoenix and the single "High Water" received airplay on radio stations across the country.
In the months following Harmonia's release, Jacob would gather musicians from across Portland's vastly rich music community to perform live, assembling one of the most ferocious and emotionally intense acts to come out of New England in some time. That band, called Jacob and the House Of Fire, toured all over the Northeast, however during the Winter of 2011 the band chose to move forward with their own individual projects. Jacob has since recorded and released his latest project Bikini Island EP. Jacob's deep artistry is a perfect match with The Maldives.

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers

Upon hearing the unique and refreshing sound of Nicki Bluhm, it becomes immediately clear why she is in the midst of a breakout year. Nicki has filled a void in music with her brand of vintage-tinged rocking country soul -- music that's like an enchanting friend you've known for a short while but feels like you've known forever. Known widely for her "Van Sessions" cover songs performed with her band and featured on YouTube, many know Nicki BLuhm & The Gramblers already and appreciate her wholesome and less-is-more approach to music. Nicki Bluhm's sound is much like a blending of Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Dusty Springfield. Nicki has shared the stage with Chris Robinson, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Pegi Young, Josh Ritter, and many others.
Dawn Mitschele

Dawn is no stranger to Sugarloaf. Though she hails from San Diego, she was born and raised in New Jersey. Dawn made quite the impression last season when she opened for Donavon Frankenreiter as a solo performer. We just had to have her back.
Dawn Mitschele (pronounced MITCH-eh-LEE) taught herself how to play guitar in high school in New Jersey and then carried it along with her to college in New York City and Spain. Dawn relocated to San Diego in the mid-2000s to begin her new-found career. Soon after writing her first few songs, she became a part of that burgeoning scene in San Diego that produced Jewel and Jason Mraz, the latter becoming a good friend who encouraged her to keep writing and performing.
Her new five-song Love Remains EP (April 2012 release) continues to receive airplay on Santa Monica’s KCRW as well as hometown stations KPRI and 91X. Two tracks, “Once And Again Friend” and “The Queen”, will be heard this fall in “Elementary” on CBS and ABC’s “666 Park Avenue” respectively. Dawn followed up her most recent tour of the East Coast this past spring with a repeat of last summer’s European tour, a mix of festivals, clubs and house shows. This fall finds her back touring the West Coast. She is also one of 12 semi-finalists in the Mountain Stage NewSong Competition and will perform in the finals at Lincoln Center in New York City on October 20, 2012.
