Sugarloaf Beirut Championship

For the first time, we'll be hosting a Beirut tournament in the King Pine room to kick off the Bud Light College Snowfest Week! If you think your team has what it takes to compete with some of the top local and collegiate Beirut teams around, then check out the info and sign-up.

Monday, Jan 5th, 2015

8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Sugarloaf Beirut Championships will be a round robin style, bracketted Beirut tournament with teams of two. Mutilple tables will be set-up in the "arena" of the King Pine Room with plenty of spectating space available. DJ Nugget will be spinning beats during the tournament, so this will be a mix of Beirut, dance party and fun! A variety of prizes from cash to lift tickets to gear will be awarded for the top 3 placing teams and prizes will also be awarded for best team costume, so make sure to plan ahead. This event will be 21+ only. Drinking will not be a requirement of the tournament.

Entry fee: The tournament will have an entry fee of $20 per team ($10 per person) paid via cash or check on the evening of the tournament. A team meeting will be held in the King Pine Room at 8:00 pm, so make sure to be in attendance.

We suggest pre-registering your team for the event, because we'll only accept a finite amount of teams. If you'd like to register, please e-mail Events Manager, Andy G at agendron@sugarlaof.com with your team name and information.

Dopapod

Dopapod is not so much a jam band as they are a band that improvises. They are an electronic band without computers. They are a metal band with groove and soul.  They are a funk band that's not afraid to get intricate.  With no regard toward stylistic boundaries, the sound that emerges from the quartet both live and in the studio is as varied and diverse as the many influences that they adapt from. Their approach to complementing a distinct genre bending sound to top-notch musicianship is what has kept the quartet committed to evolving their unique brand.  This progressive song writing leaves room for boundless improvisational exploration and has been the root of why more and more music lovers are steadily growing in numbers eagerly returning for more.

DJ Nugget

Nugget is the go-to DJ in the Pittsburgh club scene. Nugget destroyed the scene at his 2014 College Snowfest shows, so we invited him back again for this year...of course.  He is tight with the beat juggle and known to reliably get the dance floor moving.  You'll catch DJ Nugget in both the King Pine Room and the Widowmaker Loung during College Snowfest Week. Also, he'll be spinning the Sugarloaf Beirut Championships on Monday night.

Green Lion Crew

At the controls of a potent dancefloor experience that draws from reggae dancehall, hip hop and the synthy beats of urban electro, producer/DJ Green Lion is a sonic craftsman at home both on the decks and in the studio. Honed in the heated atmosphere of Jamaican sound system culture and a constant schedule of live club and concert dates in the United States, all Green Lion productions-on record, over the air or live and direct-are energetic affairs designed to set bodies in motion. Green Lion's movements are coming fast and furious now as charting success and critical acclaim for recent productions with reggae and crossover tastemakers such Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid, Beenie Man, Mr Williamz and Collie Buddz lock in #1 spots on international sales charts and heavy rotation on commercial radio around the world.
