Snowfields
Take the Timberline Quad to Sugarloaf's lofty 4,237-foot summit and stand at the top of the world. From here you stand at the doorstep of the only lift-serviced above treeline skiing in the East. 360-degree panoramas offer views of Vermont, New Hampshire, Canada, and the majestic Mount Katahdin. Take in the sights; take off into the powder-filled Snowfields.
Timberline Quad
Sugarloaf is one of the few big mountain resorts that offers the experience of peering off the summit to skiers and riders of all abilities. The choice is yours from the summit - launch into the Snowfields, kick back for a relaxing cruise down Timberline, or find a happy medium on Tote Road. As amazing as the skiing is, don't forget to take in the scenery and see why Sugarloaf stands above the crowd.
King Pine Bowl
Single and double black diamond terrain can be found in our very own natural snow bowl. Haulback - half bumped, half groomed; Ripsaw - one of Sugarloaf's "Wild Things" is always left au natural. Widowmaker and Flume are favorites of the U.S. Ski Team. Cruisers love Ramdown, and Tohaul. This section of the mountain is served by the King Pine Quad and Spillway East chairlifts.
Central Mountain
You've just arrived at the steepest terrain and longest continuous fall line in New England. And you've got some choices to make. Head left off Spillway for chutes, trails, and glades that will put a flutter in your stomach. Steer right and cruise the fabled Narrow Gauge - the only trail in the East that can host any FIS alpine event including World Cup Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, and Slalom. The SuperQuad also serves this facet of the mountain and provides easy access to Skidder, Sugarloaf's signature bump run, and favorites such as Hayburner, King's Landing, Double Bitter, or Tote Road.
Whiffletree
This section of the mountain is cherished by kids and adults alike. Whiffletree, Buckboard, Cruiser, Springboard, Pole Line, and Slasher offer intermediate blues and beginner greens that everyone can enjoy together. Hop on the Whiffletree SuperQuad and you're at the top in less than 6 minutes.
Double Runner
Learning terrain with a little more pitch than the Birches and Landing. Greens include Lower Winter's Way, Boardwalk and Lower Narrow Gauge. A perfect place to polish your skills.
SuperPipe and Terrain Parks
Sugarloaf has completely redesigned its terrain park landscape for the 2008-2009 season, adding two new parks, a permanant snowboardcross course, and an entirely rebuilt Superpipe. The new parks include the Haywire advanced park, and the Skybound beginner park on Whiffletree. Sidewinder, the new snowboardcross course, was built in collaberation with Sugarloaf's own Seth Wescott and is located underneath the SuperQuad. Intermediate park features will once again be found in the Stomping Grounds.
Sugarloaf's Superpipe was completely rebuilt during the 2008 offseason. The pipe is 400 feet long and is maintained with a state of the art 18-foot Zaugg Pipe Monster. For beginning pipe riders, a fully maintained mini-pipe will once again be located in the Stomping Grounds.
West Mountain
A Sugarloaf favorite on sunny afternoons. Consistent fall line all the way down on four blue and green cruisers - Scoot, Windrow, Glancer, and Horseshoe that stretch a mile and a half. Swing into Bullwinkles, Sugarloaf's on mountain lodge, for a warm up or a hearty lunch.
Birches and Landing
This gentle sloping area gives learning skiers and riders the chance to get comfortable on their skis BEFORE getting on the lift. Sugarloafers who have learned here say it's a huge confidence builder to be on skis before tackling the lift.
