Reggae Rave
Friday night @ 9pm
Back again, the popular Reggae Rave is one of the most happening events at the Reggae Festival! This is a completely free event and open to anyone 21+. The weather forecast is telling us we’ll be getting 6” of snow (or more) on Friday night so we’ll be moving the Reggae Rave into the King Pine room. The venue may be inside, but you can still dance to the beats Renegade Sound Station. They’ll be mashing up reggae with hip-hop, energizing the crowd to dance and rave the night away. Beer gardens, fellow Sugarloafers, amazing music and good vibes will be flowing freely!
John Brown's Body with Mighty Mystic
Saturday's Headlining Show
One of the hottest reggae bands out of Boston, John Brown's Body, will be performing on the King Pine Room main stage, bringing smooth reggae beats to an energized reggae crowd. Boston's Mighty Mystic will be opening the show.
John Brown's Body
John Brown's Body's "Future Roots" uses reggae as a foundation, but incorporates dub, drum & bass, dancehall, hip hop and other musical explorations to create a sound booth timeless and forward. However it's defined, people are buzzing about this progressive group from Boston and Ithaca, NY. The eight-piece band's explosive live show boasts super heavy rhythms, a three-piece horn section, air-tight drum and bass, and "the most gorgeous melodies in all of modern reggae music" (All Music Guide). JBB's latest album Amplify (2008), debuted at #1 on Billboard's Reggae Chart. Their new EP, JBB In Dub, will be released September 18th on Easy Star Records.

Considered one of the leaders in the East Coast Reggae Movement, reggae artist Mighty Mystic's fresh sound and musical diversity has proved to be a magnet for music lovers in search of something refreshing and new. It has asttracted listeners of all ages, and from all walks of life. A charistmatic man on a mission: Mighty Mystic has gone from being a fan of reggae music, to being a contributor to the art. On November 24, 2010, after releasing singles for nearly four years. Mighty Mystic released his debut, full-length album "Wake up the World" which hit iTunes, Amazon, and everywhere digital downloads were sold, by storm. The album peaked at #4 on iTunes Reggae Charts.

Gorilla Finger Dub Band
Hailing from Maine, Gorilla Finger is reminiscent of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Sublime all the while performing in their own unique jam-band inspired style. They impressed us so much last year at Reggae, we just had to bring them back again.
Royal Hammer
A seven-piece roots reggae collective from Portland, Maine. Comprised of some of Portland’s most talented and seasoned musicians, Royal Hammer has for many years paid thoughtful and respectful homage to the great traditions of Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Roots Radics and many others. Fresh off the release of its debut album, My Bubble, Royal Hammer has begun spreading their message of love, hope, and justice to a broader audience. Among their long list of accomplishments, Royal Hammer has shared the stage with such legendary artists as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Barrington Levy, and Midnite as well as backing up international reggae artists Marty Dread and Glen DaCosta of the Wailers.
Noble Society
With a message of peace through painful powerful music, Noble Society has begun their rise into the mainstream after years of fan-supported popularity within the underground Reggae and Dancehall communities. The members hail from Switzerland, Guyana, and Jamaica now all residing in Brooklyn, NY making for a new blend of WORLD MUSIC with Reggae/Hip Hop/Dub-Step/Dancehall.

The story begins with two brothers, Rootz and Zeebo, who found their way from college in North Carolina via the Caribbean only to end up in Washington, DC. It was in the cultural melting pot of the Nation’s capital that they developed their creative and musical talents. In the heady days of the late 1980s, the brothers Steele would launch the project that has defined their lives: See-I. Corporation.

Grounded in roots rhythm, Kiwi invokes a dynamic blend of familiar styles into their own, unmistakeable sound. Quirky and complex melodies with provocative lyrics in both English and Portuguese are complemented by soulful harmonies; and the driving grooves of 70's soul and R&B are infused with the improvisational sophistication of a jazz ensemble.
